Cambridge App developer, MagicSolver is on the path to rapid growth, thanks in part to the input of an independent coach via the Coaching for High Growth programme.

MagicSolver is a thriving startup company, set up in July 2009 by three former Cambridge University students. The company creates and promotes new iPhone and Android applications with a unique business model around magic App Store discovery.

With over five million iPhone and Android customers in 90 different countries already, and a leadership position in 35 countries, MagicSolver has a proven business model but it is operating in a competitive market place where timing and consumer engagement are everything.

The team wanted to make the transition from early stage start up to fast moving, growing company and turned to the Coaching for High Growth programme for help.

Emmanuel Carraud, co-founder, MagicSolver said: “In App development you are constantly racing the clock so it’s easy to forget the big picture. We know our market place and we’re gaining traction fast but we have never run a business before. Coaching is the perfect solution.”

The Coaching for High Growth programme is designed to help ambitious and forward thinking businesses unlock and sustain their high growth potential.  It is run by St John’s Innovation Centre on behalf of EEDA and starts with a master class that is followed by a series of one-to-one sessions.

Emmanuel Carraud added: “Our coach, Tony Wilson, has brought a fresh perspective. His penetrating questions and calm, mature approach have nudged us into planning the company’s growth around a strategic vision with a clear, structured plan to support it.

“Achieving this clarity has helped us avoid common pitfalls and save time and energy. Consequently, we have accelerated the development of two new apps. With clearer heads, we are definitely more productive. We always knew where we wanted to go but now we have a better idea how we’re going to get there too!”

MagicSolver’s goal is to bring magic to every smartphone, and to be recognised as the world leader in mobile phone app discovery. The company is now looking for new office space and staff, to ensure it is well positioned to meet and benefit from the increasing demand for apps.
