Piper in tune with Elektron strategy

Cambridge tech product innovator Elektron Technology plc is losing Peter Welch as a non-executive director; he steps down in January after more than three years service.

It has recruited another respected NED in Richard (‘Ric’) John Piper who has come onboard with immediate effect. Ric is also appointed senior independent director and a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees.

Piper qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977. He was appointed finance director of Logica (UK) in 1990 and was group FD of WS Atkins from 1993 to 2002. Since 2003 he has been chairman or NED of several AIM and privately owned businesses and was Elektron’s senior independent director from 2012 to 2015.

Currently Piper is a non-executive director with GRC International Group plc. He has been a partner with Restoration Partners Limited, which advises technology businesses, since 2006

Elektron chairman Keith Daley said: “Peter Welch has provided wise counsel during a period of considerable change. We are delighted to welcome Ric back to the Elektron board.

“His experience further strengthens the board and will be of considerable value to the company as it continues to transform its businesses.”
