Ashtons Legal advises Le Col on £1m crowdfunding campaign

Le Col Yanto Barker

Ashtons Legal in Cambridge advised London-based Le Col Holdings in a £1 million crowdfunding raise.

Le Col is a premium cycling apparel brand, founded in 2011 by professional cyclist, Yanto Barker. The Le Col brand and clothing is built on his expertise and experience as a professional cyclist.

Manufactured in Italy, Le Col now sells its clothing to customers online and in over 10 countries – directly and through a range of specialist retailers. The new funding will enable the business to continue to establish the brand and expand.

Matthew Downing, head of Ashtons’ Corporate and Commercial team in Cambridge said: “This was an exciting project to be involved with and it was great that Le Col was able to exceed its initial target. This business has grown steadily and with the new funding it will enable the business to continue that growth and reach new markets.”

Yanto Barker added: “We are delighted with the campaign and are now in a position to take the brand to the next level. The responsiveness and support provided by Matthew and his team throughout the campaign was greatly received and Ashtons proved to be key part of the team in concluding the campaign.”

The Le Col team were also assisted by Hillier Hopkins LLP and Price Bailey LLP who were fundamental in bringing the project together.

In a separate deal, Ashtons Legal has advised the owners of Stowlangtoft Healthcare Group in its acquisition of the business and assets of Melford Court Nursing Home from national care provider Bupa. No figures were disclosed.

Melford Court is a Grade-II listed house in Long Melford, Suffolk and has capacity for 52 residents. The business will complement Stowlangtoft’s existing care homes at Stowlangtoft Hall near Bury St Edmunds, Brandon Park in Brandon and Ford Place in Thetford, all of which provide premium level care in impressive surroundings.
