Record revenues and sales for Autonomy
With American territories yielding to its charms and China also offering great prospects, Cambridge web software specialist Autonomy is forecasting further strong growth in 2006.The company, whose software helps companies and governments sort masses of unstructured internet data, posted record results for the fourth quarter and 12 months ended December 31, with the highest revenues and profits in the company’s history.
Autonomy revenues for the full year were up 49 per cent on 2004 to a new high of £54.5m while pre-tax profit was £12.5m – 135 per cent ahead.
A bumper fourth quarter in terms of worldwide sales added considerable volume to the figures and 2006 would seem to hold the promise of much, much more.
CEO Dr Mike Lynch certainly seems to think so. He said: “Top line revenues, operating profits, bottom line profit before tax and EPS are all up significantly with strong organic growth – all achieved during a year in which we completed major corporate transactions.
“Because of our performance in 2005, Autonomy solidified its position as the acknowledged industry leader.
“Our customers have welcomed the benefits that our acquisitions have brought and during Q4 our competitive win rates remained high at 90 per cent.
“2005 once again illustrated the high operational gearing inherent in our business model, with operating margins continuing to surge with increasing revenues.
“Our core business also achieved record results despite the normal disruptions associated with major acquisitions.
“At the same time, the integration of verity is largely completed.
“This was an extraordinary transformational year for Autonomy and we are looking forward to 2006 with great excitement and confidence in our long-term outlook.”
Fourth quarter revenues of £17.9m – up 69 per cent year-on-year – came from organic growth and the contribution of etalk. etalk’s sales are primarily in the US and US/Asia Pacific revenues for Autonomy are double UK/European territory returns.
Autonomy’s Asian operations continued to expand with the launch of its joint venture, blinkx China, and continued general growth in Beijing and Shanghai.
