New Cambridge learning experience launched for senior leaders

Møller Executive Education, part of Churchill College at University of Cambridge, has launched a unique senior leadership programme to prepare executives for the extreme and complex business environment, which some are calling the ‘fourth industrial revolution’.

In response to the highly complex, competitive and unpredictable environment emerging in the 21st Century – and unprecedented in our lifetimes – Møller Executive Education is launching The Explorer Mindset.

The full-board residential programme will leverage Cambridge’s academic, commercial and cultural strengths to provide an immersive learning environment for delegates and will be delivered by a diverse team including award-winning authors, educators, academics, and leadership experts.

Cathy Butler (pictured above), director of programmes (Executive Education) said: “The Explorer Mindset is a high impact, experiential programme which will equip senior executives with the skills, knowledge and resources they need to lead their organisations at this critical point in history.

“Cambridge provides the ideal backdrop for this unique programme, which aims to break the mould of traditional executive education courses. This programme is being launched on the 25th anniversary of The Møller Centre, which was founded as a Centre of Excellence inspired by two great leaders: Sir Winston Churchill and Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller.

“As well as being a city that’s steeped in history, Cambridge is of course a global leader for knowledge and education, and has a thriving technology and biotech cluster.

“The Explorer Mindset takes advantage of all these factors, offering access to a range of Cambridge academics, entrepreneurs and business leaders, who will share their leadership stories, including a group of global leaders from across science, technology, professional services and other diverse sectors.

“Executives will also benefit from an optional wellbeing programme as well as social and cultural programme and private dining experiences in historic settings.”

The fourth industrial revolution, coined by Professor Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, refers to the implementation of new disruptive technologies, which is fundamentally changing the way we live, work and relate to one another.

While evidence of such seismic shifts are clearly evident, a 2017 report by Deloitte found that too many executives underestimate the risk of their leadership capabilities not keeping pace.

Its survey of 800 global business executives found that 90 per cent are redesigning their organisations to be more dynamic and agile, yet they underestimate the crucial demand for ‘a completely different type of leader.’

The Explorer Mindset programme is split into two Modules: Module 1 takes place from 26 Nov – 30 Nov 2017 and Module 2 from 29 April – 2 May 2018. 
The programme is structured to fit around management work commitments and is available to a maximum of 25 participants, in line with the Cambridge approach to smaller-group learning.

The price of The Explorer Mindset programme is £8,000+VAT (including full-board residential and all tuition). It is designed to attract an international cohort of senior leaders from around the UK and internationally, irrespective of industry sector. To find out more, visit
