Cambridge based business Cozmochem has secured a potentially lucrative distribution deal in Central Europe thanks to the help of Enterprise Europe Network.

The specialist cosmetic company manufacture an innovative eyelash serum that promotes the growth of longer and thicker eyelashes with a simple once a day application.

Following growing sales domestically Cozmochem where keen to look to new markets in Europe and beyond to expand their sales. The Cambridgeshire company had received several expressions of interest from abroad and felt they were ready to capitalise on overseas opportunities.

“I wanted to grow the business through increased European sales initially. Although the EU economy is sluggish at the moment, niche sectors such as cosmetics will always do well” says Farideh Goudarzi, a business development manager at Cozmochem.

“I was confident I could make sales in Europe and with the help of EEN I had appointed a distributor and was sending my first pallet within a couple of months.”

Natalie Casey, a European trade adviser at Enterprise Europe Network advised Farideh on her export strategy and suggested she register for EEN’s finding partners in Europe service.

“Our role is to bring together organisations from across Europe and beyond and help to establish commercial, technological and research partnerships. I circulated Cozmochem’s request to find a distributor through our network and soon after received several responses.”

Since creating and uploading Cozmochem’s profile onto EEN’s pan – European database of business opportunities, Farideh has received several expressions of interest from overseas companies interested in her products and has now appointed U.M.S Stojanka, a distributor based in Slovenia.

With offices in 54 countries around the world and comprising 600 partner organisations in Europe and beyond, including Chambers of Commerce, regional development agencies and universities, EEN offices in Europe where soon able to track down and recommend Farideh a selection of suitable partners.

And Farideh said she will stay in contact with EEN, who she describes as an “amazing service” which was “professional, efficient and ended up in an agreement with a distributor from Slovenia”.

“Natalie worked around my business needs and highlighted the potential parties to me,” she said.

“Slovenia is a good starter market for us and we plan to use EEN’s services to expand across the wider European region and beyond.”
