Cambridge Enterprise

Cambridge Enterprise

Formed in 2006, Cambridge Enterprise is a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Cambridge and is the academic doyen’s commercialisation arm.

CE comprises three main teams – consultancy, technology transfer and seed funds. It has mentored and funded scores of university spin-outs and helped guide them to international success.

Its consultancy services team supports staff, researchers and students when they are approached for help from external organisations. The team handles the majority of communication with an organisation that can otherwise distract from the transfer of knowledge.

The technology transfer team works with researchers on ideas from their university research that have commercial potential. Its goal is to create opportunities that are attractive to those external organisations that have the resources to develop and commercialise them.

Through direct investment and networking facilitation, CE’s seed funds team are able to support academics and students as they build teams and raise the finances needed to develop their ideas.
