Global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca is fashioning a flagship corporate headquarters and world-leading research hub from its new home at Cambridge BioMedical Campus.
Its purpose is to push the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines. Its science-led approach has resulted in the passion being shared with the scientific and academic healthcare and business communities of the UK.
Cambridge is now the clear mother ship for a business that employs 6,700 people and supports around 35,000 other jobs in the UK. Some 2,600 employees in the UK are focused on high value R & D activities supported by multibillion pound investment on research.
Significantly in the context of these Awards, the Cambridge site is earmarked to become AstraZeneca’s largest centre for oncology research worldwide. Beyond cancer, its R & D is focusing on cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, respiratory, inflammation and autoimmune diseases and conditions of the central nervous system.
